Two More Apparel Retailers Bankrupt

Chicago based Oilily, operator of 33 stores in primarily upscale, regional malls joins Anchor Blue this week as the latest casualties of the retail black hole.

Denim and casual apparel retailer, Anchor Blue Retail Group, and four of its affiliated companies, have filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. As of May 28, Anchor Blue listed 177 stores in AZ (17), CA (95), CO (5), FL (18), GA (1), ID (1), NM (8) , NV (5), OR (3), TX (10), UT (7) and WA (7) as open and operating on its website. Another Mall Retailer Succumbs to Down Market

Chicago-based Olly's Retail U.S.A., the parent company of women's and children's apparel retailer, Oilily, filed bankruptcy on May 28, 2009. The upscale retailer, known for its eclectic fashions featuring vibrant colors and bold designs for both mom and child, listed assets between $1 million and $10 million and liabilities between $10 million and $50 million in its filing.
